Luogosanto is a village of about 2,000 inhabitants in the province of Olbia-Tempio, located 321 meters above sea level, in the heart of the historic region of Gallura, at the foot of the mountain Ghjuanni.
The birth of the center dates back to medieval times, possibly by the Franciscans in the thirteenth century, and this should be the name. In the mid-fifteenth century, the country, as indeed most of the Gallura depopulated and only after two hundred years, some pastors began to return to these lands. Viticulture and pastoralism were the leading sectors at the beginning of '900.
In this small country we find twenty-two churches, one of the most important one in honor of St. Trano, where were found the relics of St. Nicola and St. Trano, who would live near the church. The shrine is located south of the country, on a granite relief with stunning views over the Straits of Bonifacio.
