Santa Teresa di Gallura is a municipality of about 5,200 inhabitants in the province of Olbia-Tempio in the extreme north of Sardinia, in the historical region of Gallura.

The village is situated on a promontory, where to the north you can see the southern coast of Corsica (which is only 11 miles), to the north-east there is the archipelago of La Maddalena, and Sardinia Sea on the west.

The town is situated around two coves, one of Porto Longone and that of Rena Bianca, the latter contains a fine white sandy beach.

The town is a Roman plan, typical of the Piedmont settlements of military origin, is now a much sought after tourist destination, the port provides daily connections to tourist and freight traffic to Bonifacio in Corsica, and also an important recreational value.


Santa Teresa was once known as Longosardo, and it was a small port in Roman times, and the granite extracted in the area was brought to Rome.

The caves of Capo Testa supplied granite for the Duomo and the Baptistery of Pisa, and is expected also for the Pantheon in Rome.
