Church of St. Paul, Olbia |
|
The building stands on the highest part of the old city, built over an ancient temple dating back to Roman times. It is located in "via Cagliari", a crossing on the right of "Corso Umberto I". Dating back to the middle of the 18th century, it is characterized by a rectangular body and three peaks which lend the building something of the appearance of a cross; the bell tower has a typically squared form and is entirely in granite. Inside the building there are two statues from the 18th century dedicated to the Sacro Cuore and San Francesco, the high altar, constructed entirely in marble, the pulpit crafted in venetian style. Interesting also are the objets d'arte in silver, stored within a halo of the Assunta and sandals from the 17th century. |
