The Costa Smeralda is the recent designation of north-eastern coast of Sardinia, locally known as Gallura mountains grinder (grinding stone).
"Costa Smeralda" takes its name from the color of the sea, which in this part of Sardinia has emerald reflexes. The "Consorzio Costa Smeralda", born in 1962 at the hands of the Ishmaelites Prince Karim Aga Khan, has given considerable impetus propelling the holiday in Sardinia, transforming this patch of land in an important and popular holiday resort, famous around the world . With its 55 kilometers of coastline is the longest river of Italy, and has frequent coves, long sandy beaches, headlands, islands and has grandiose and luxurious hotels.
The main centers of the coast is Porto Cervo, Cala di Volpe, Liscia di Vacca, Capriccioli, Poltu Cuatu.
